Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Umar Ata Bandial has said that our lawyers played a distinguished role for upholding the rule of law in the country in the wake of lawyers' movement and this fact has been acclaimed the world over.
He was addressing a function of the Lahore High Court Bar Association held in honour of President Delhi High Court Bar Association, Amarjeet Singh Chandhiok, Judges of LHC, SC Laadi, Senior advocate of India and office-bearers of Lahore High Court Bar Association along with a large number of advocates were present on the occasion.
Chief Justice Bandial said that lawyers community has sacrificed their lives in the past for establishing rule of law. He said, "we are still facing challenges and will have challenges in future too".
He asked the Bar leaders to rise to the occasion leaving behind petty differences. It is the constitutional duty of Bar representatives to attend the meetings of Judicial Commission assigned the obligation of appointment of superior courts judges.
