Dense fog in parts of Punjab triggered road accidents, claiming six lives in wee hours of Monday. A blanket of fog on a highway in Sheikhupura, about 35 km north-west of Lahore, caught five vehicles in a pile-up, leaving at least four people dead and more than 15 injured, Rescue 1122 said.
The road acceded took place near Mandiali area. Elsewhere in Punjab, another mishap was reported near Sahiwal, 180 km from the major city Lahore and is the city between Lahore and Multan, where a bus-truck collision left two people dead and 13 injured near Koreshah area.
The injured were rushed to district hospital, rescue officials said. Meanwhile, authorities closed the Motorway from the Kala Shah Kaku Interchange to Thokar Niaz Beg due to the dense fog and low visibility on the highway. Separately, the fog also prevailed in parts of Sindh where some 12 people were injured in a road accident on the National Highway near Nawabshah town this morning.
