Led by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag, a high-level Turkish delegation called on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Nawaz Sharif here at Model Town Monday and discussed matters of mutual interest and Pak-Turkey economic ties.
Sources claimed that views were also exchanged over the promotion of Pak-Turkey economic ties. Talking to the Turkish delegation, Nawaz Sharif said that there have been brotherly and friendly relations between Pakistan and Turkey. He added that Turkish investors are making investment in Punjab due to which commercial relations are improving. He added that Pakistan and Turkey were tied by strong relations of love, affection and brotherhood.
He said that the Turkish government and its people had always fully supported Pakistani brethren in every difficult time. He said that Turkey was one of the few countries which had started the rehabilitation of flood affectees in Pakistan first and provided complete co-operation for their rehabilitation.
He said that the metro bus project, which is a joint venture of the Punjab government and Turkey, is a masterpiece of mutual co-operation. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said on the occasion that full co-operation of the Turkish government for the metro bus system was a splendid example of relations between both the countries. President Turkey Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Rajab Tayyip Erdogan loved the people of Pakistan and they took special interest in giving the metro bus system a practical shape, he added.
The Chief Minister thanked the Turkish delegation for participating in the inaugural ceremony of the metro bus project and expressed the hope that with the passage of time relations between both countries would be further strengthened. Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdag Deputy congratulated Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on successfully launching the metro bus system.
He said that they had received great love in Lahore and it seemed that they had come to their second home. He also thanked the Pakistani people and Punjab government for their warm welcome in Lahore. He said that the metro bus project was a great achievement of Shahbaz Sharif and it was unbelievable how this splendid project was completed in 11 months.
Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdag said that Pakistan's and Turkish friendship is based on sincerity as both countries have vigorously supported each other in times of difficulty. He hoped that the people of Pakistan and Turkey would forge further relations of mutual love and affection through collaborative projects like the Metro Bus service.
