Syed Asif Hashmi, Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board, met President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday. The meeting was held at the Governor House. Governor Punjab Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmood was also present in the meeting. Chairman ETPB highlighted various steps of the Board to improve social conditions of the minorities and facilitating pilgrims.
President Zardari appreciated the ETPB's efforts, stressing that the government would fully support the initiatives taken for the welfare of the non Muslims. He further advised Hashmi to take steps for protection of religious places and save them from encroachments. President Zardari also pointed out the measures undertaken for welfare of minorities including allocation of reserved seats in Senate, five percent job quota in all Federal Government jobs, commemorating 11th August every year as Minority day and establishment of a Hotline for the timely redressal of grievances of non-Muslim citizens.
