The Supreme Court on Tues-day granted National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Admiral Fasih Bukhari (Retd) one week in the contempt of court proceedings against him. The court issued a show-cause notice to Bukhari under Article 204 of the Constitution read with Section 3 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2003 on a letter written by him to President Asif Ali Zardari.
Appearing before a three-member bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the counsel for Chairman anti-graft body Naveed Rasool Mirza sought time on ground that he had to study the instant matter as he was only recently engaged to represent Chairman NAB. The bench turned down counsel's plea to grant exemption to his client from making appearance before the court and adjourned the hearing of case till February 18.
