The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and city administration on Tuesday sealed the residence of a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officer investigating Ogra scam.
Sources said that officials of CDA and district administration had sealed the room of Waqas Ahmad Khan, a NAB officer, in a guest house located in sector F-8. The CDA official and police have been accused of thoroughly examining the room of the NAB official and video-filming, sources said.
They said Waqas Ahmad had produced a letter written by Cabinet Division to the chairman NAB in the Supreme Court, stating that NAB would update the Cabinet Division and establishment division by submitting fortnightly progress reports on the Ogra scam.
When contacted, CDA spokesman Ramzan Sajjid denied that CDA Building Control Team had sealed the residence of NAB official. The spokesman said the CDA was carrying out an across-the-board operation against illegal use of residential buildings in different areas of the city and this had nothing to do with the sealing of the house of NAB officer; rather House No 10, St. 43, F-8/1 owned by Abdul Majeed was being used as a guest house.
He said that CDA had issued a number of notices to the owner of the house to end commercial activities in the residential building, however, the owner continued to use the building as a guesthouse. The Deputy Commissioner, CDA had also fined the owner of the said house and show cause notices were also issued by the Estate Management Wing of the CDA in 2009, 2010 and 2011. The CDA staff did not confiscate the vehicle and other belongings of the NAB official, he said.
The houses which were sealed by the CDA on Tuesday included House No 4, St. 56, F-8/4, Islamabad which was being used as Telecom Office; House No 45, St. 33, F-8/1, Islamabad, being used as a Departmental Store, House No 10, St. 43, F-8/1 being used as Guesthouse, whereas House No 16, St. 38, F-8/1 was being used as an office, he said adding that during the current drive CDA has, so far, sealed around 20 houses.
