Experts on energy have urged industry and domestic consumers for maximum energy savings, which they attributed as only way out from the prevailing energy crisis in the country. The views were expressed by energy experts while addressing a seminar organised under the auspices of Industry Support and Environment & Business Sustainability Cell (IS&EBSC) of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) in collaboration with Industrialist Association Peshawar (IAP) here Libra Pharma in Hayatabad Industrial Estate.
The seminar was attended by large number of industrialists and faculty members of all public and private sector universities in Peshawar. Those who addressed were included Member Board of Director (BoD) Smeda, Adeel Rauf, Provincial Chief, Smeda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Javed Iqbal Khattak and Manager, Smeda, Rashid Aman. The purpose of the seminar was the highlighting of IS&EBSC and strengthening of the linkages between academia and industry.
Addressing the participants of the seminar, Member, Board of Director, Smeda, Adeel Rauf along with exploration of alternative resources stressed need for the better utilisation of the available resources of energy to help promote the concept of energy saving in industrial sector. He was of the view that energy saving will not only cut the cost of production down, but will also direct benefit the consumers.
During presentation, Manager Smeda, Rashid Aman elaborated that the concept methodology of the energy management system will be implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Management Associate, IS&EBSC, Engineer Hidayatullah told the participants that the cell so far had saved energy worth Rs 166 million in 376 industrial units of the country as compare to the cost of Rs 18 million on it. The cell has achieved world reputation, as 29 foreign experts mostly from Japan, India and Germany had worked with the organisation.
Participating in the debate, the industrialists and faculty members of public and private universities appreciated the endeavour of Smeda for creation of awareness among the industry on energy management and assured co-operation to the authority in this regard.
