Iran's Parliament Speaker Dr Ali Larijani arrived in Lahore from Islamabad on Wednesday. At the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Mohammad Iqbal Khan received him, who attended the first conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of Economic Co-operation Organisation (ECO). The two speakers discussed the matters of mutual interest and the security environment in the region.
Punjab Assembly Rana Mohammad Iqbal Khan said Pakistan and Iran have historical religious, cultural and economic relations. Rana expressed the hope that bilateral relations between the two countries would be further strengthened as there are unlimited opportunities for investment in the fields of energy, education, agriculture, livestock etc in Punjab. He said Punjab government has established Board of Investment and trade to facilitate the domestic and foreign investors for investment in Punjab.
The Iranian Speaker said there should be greater exchange of students between the two brotherly countries since all problems could be solved through spread of education. He lauded efforts of Chief Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif and Speaker Punjab Assembly for strengthening relations in all sectors between Pakistan and Iran.
