The Pakistan Customs has launched a new system of Computerised Customs Clearance titled 'WeBOC' here at Bacha Khan International Airport. The system was formally inaugurated by a Member Customs, Federal Board of Revenue, Mohammad Riaz in a simple ceremony, and a Goods Declaration Form processed in WeBOC System for the first time by the relevant personnel in his presence.
On the occasion, Zulfiqar A Kazmi, Collector, Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar, Assistant Collector Peshawar Airport, Asfandayar Khan and other customs officials were present. While addressing on the occasion, Riaz, Member Customs, FBR highlighted the important features of WeBOC in his address. He was of the view that the new module would help in efficient deployment of resources, minimise clearance time at ports, minimise customs processing time, paperless and single window customs operations, reduce cost of doing business and lower clearing/handling charges.
Riaz said the FBR, in its continuing endeavour to bring transparency with efficiency in the Customs Operations and also to facilitate bonafide trade of this country, had moved forward to launch new version of computerised customs clearance named WeBOC. The system had the quality of being user-friendly and accessible to all the stakeholders to cater for smooth and trouble free customs clearance, he added.
He also emphasised that the system would go a long way in ensuring better cash flows, transparency and integrity, correct revenue realisation, cargo information, online manifest fiiling and many other features Zulfiqar Kazmi, Collector, Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar thanked all the participants and assigned the stakeholders that they would continue extending its all out support to make this system serve the trade properly to make them more familiar with WeBOC and resolve their day to day problems.
Assistant Collector Peshawar Airport, Asfandyar Khan in his welcome address shared his views about the newly developed module. He informed the first module for the customs clearance at the Airport was being launched and it now would enable this Collectorate to handle its export as well as import at the Air Freight Unit on this new Computerised Clearance System.
It is pertinent to mention that Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar is the second largest Collectorate in respect of handling exports, worth two billion dollars annually. Requisite training have been provided through Video Conferencing to all the stakeholders including Clearing Agents, Airlines Staff, Customs officials and all those who are eager to use the system obtaining their user IDs. Member (Customs) Mohammad Riaz has been pleased to lead the launching by choosing Peshawar as one of the Collectorate to lead this modernisation.
