A four member delegation of the Embassy of United States of America, led by Information Resource Officer Caryn Anderson, called on the Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Professor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan to discuss various partnership agreements and enhancement in education collaborations aimed at reconstruction of Afghanistan.
The delegation also visited Lincolns Corner situated at UoP Central library for dialogue with the US Alumni students of UoP. They also looked into the expansion and renovation work estimated at $1320 within the library work on which is to commence from next week. Public Affairs Officer of the Consulate General of the US Tammy Paltchikov also accompanied the visiting team.
The US has already seen, that phase in their history, through which Pakistan is passing right now, said Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan. "Pakistan has all the prospects of getting through the difficult phase and make it to be amongst developed countries of the world", he added.
Despite prevailing situation, he said that educational activities were promoting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, even in the present scenario adamant the nation's resilience to excel, despite problems, Dr Rasul opined. The Vice Chancellor said University of Peshawar is the closest higher education venue for Afghanistan and is host to the highest number of Afghan students around the globe. He added his University would contribute towards the rebuilding of neighbouring Afghanistan by generating highly educated human resource to the war affected country.
Ms Caryn Anderson said her visit is aimed at giving a new look to the functioning of Lincolns corner around the country. She added UoP is one of the eight hundred and fifty partner Universities with whom the US government is working with. She desired to see Pakistani youth work together for peace, because they are the people who know those facts about KP and Fata, which the rest of the world does not. About the importance of libraries she argued that the friends of library have proven role towards conflict resolution and unearthing social issues through knowledge generation, dialogue and giving value to each other's ideas.
