The medical board constituted after the mysterious death of Kamran Faisal - a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigator in the Rental Power Plants (RPPs) case - has commenced examination of the forensic report prepared by Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) and is expected to issue a final report within a few days.
Dr Sharif Astori, the spokesman for Polyclinic, confirmed that a six-member medical board had received a forensic report and would issue a final medial report in the next few days. The board consists of Dr Imtiaz Hussain, Dr Javeed, Dr Tanveer, Dr Inayatullah Baig, Dr Altaf Shah and Dr Iftikhar Malik, he said. The sources said that according to the forensic report, there were signs of torture on Faisal's body and no intoxicant was found in his body.
The forensic report, however, indicates that the Hyoid bone of the deceased was intact whereas in cases of suicide by hanging, it invariably gets fractured. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin said that right side of Faisal's Hyoid bone was fractured. He confirmed that the medical board had received a forensic report and stated that the forensic report did not refer to any torture marks on Faisal's body.
They said a forensic report finalised by the country's well reputed forensic lab contradicted the earlier claims of postmortem and chemical reports that there were no signs of torture on Faisal's body and that he was taking anti-depressants. Faisal was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a government hostel on January 18. The initial findings of an autopsy were that he committed suicide, but his family and some of his colleagues insisted that he was murdered. His body was later exhumed and forensic experts examined it to determine the cause of death.
