The new constitution of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which is in line with the guidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has been approved by the government, although, the PCB is yet to get a copy of the duly approved draft of the PCB Constitution from the quarters concerned. Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohammad Zaka Ashraf said on Friday that the government has approved the new constitution of the PCB.
"It is a positive sign that PCB constitution has been approved by the government and it has been framed according to the laws of the ICC", he told mediamen after the sports gala of Kinniard College here. He added that the PCB framed its own constitution as per direction of the ICC to run the board under a democratic set-up. However, he said that the PCB have not, so far, received a duly approved copy of the PCB Constitution.
Talking about the current Test series against South Africa, Zaka said that Pakistani players are talented and have the ability to stage a come back. However, he said that the boys did not get enough time for preparation ahead of the series. When asked about the postponement of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Zaka said the PSL has been postponed to hold it in a befitting manner. He dispelled the negative impression about putting off the league.
He said the PSL was postponed after taking all the stakeholders on board who sought more time to hold the event, as heavy funds were required for the event. "We will announce a new schedule of the PSL after finalising all the necessary arrangements and allied issues," he said. Zaka also said that the PCB was taking all measures to bring back international cricket to Pakistan and holding of PSL is a part of these efforts.
Zaka said that he was pleased with the efforts being put in by the entire PSL team and it was satisfying to note the progress that was made and the response that we had got on the PSL from various stakeholders. Zaka Asrhaf said PSL organising committee is working on the project (league) and it is working on day to day basis to launch country's first cricket league in a memorable way.
