At least seven persons were killed in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis, here on Saturday. An activist of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) was targeted near his residence in Al-Noor Society in the limits of Gulberg police station. Police said the deceased, who was identified as Qari Ghulam Sarwar, 35, was assaulted near his residence. They said the victim was the worker of ASWJ. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A bullet-riddled body of a man identified as Nawaz, 35 son of Dilbar Khan was recovered from Ibrahim Memon Goth. Police said the victim, who was the resident of Malir, Khokhrapar area, was missing since Friday and added that his body bore torture marks. Police said he might have been killed over personal enmity as he had no affiliation with any party. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Another man namely Muhammad Iqbal, 35 son of Muhammad Alam was gunned down near Siraj-ud-Dula College in Musa Colony area. Police said the victim was hit by multiple gunshots and succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). Police said the motive behind his murder was yet to be ascertained. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A fetus was recovered near Dua Chowk in New Karachi area. Later, it was buried in Mewashah graveyard by Chippa rescue service. Another man received serious wounds when he was assaulted with an axe at Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth in the limits of Sacchal police station. Police said the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. He was murdered with the help of axe and later the culprits threw his body in bushes. The body was moved to Edhi morgue after legal formalities for identification. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A 32-year-old man namely Mehmood was shot dead near N-5 Bus stop located in Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia Town. Police said the victim was the resident of same area and might have been murdered over personal enmity. No case was registered till filing of this report. Another man namely Raza Ahmad lost his life when he shot himself with his service weapon at Gul Bai area in the limits of Mauripur police station. Police said the motive behind his death was yet to be ascertained while the deceased, who was security guard, shot himself with his service weapon. Further investigation was under way.
Three more persons sustained bullet wounds in an armed ambush near Meerat Kabab House in the limits of Jamshed Quarters police station. SHO Inayatullah Marwat said armed assailants resorted to indiscriminate fire near Meerat Kabab House, with the result three persons sustained bullet wounds and were shifted to hospital. He said the prime target was one of the injured persons namely Shakeel, adding that the shooters were chasing him from all the way trough to Boultan Market where he was working at a shop.
He added that the motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. Hospital sources said Shakeel was hit by multiple gunshots and was in a critical condition while the rest were stable. Following the incident, tension prevailed in the area where shops and markets were closed.
