Urmila Matondkar’s comeback song is nothing but sheer disappointment
Bollywood’s Barbie doll from the 90s, Urmila Matondkar, has returned to the silver screen after almost 10 years with a song in Irrfan Khan’s upcoming movie ‘Blackmail’, but the song ‘Bewafa Beauty’ fell short on the ‘Chamma Chamma’ girl's standard.
The song's video is just like every other Bollywood song, with not much innovation and frankly the music video has nothing new to it in terms of dance moves either. With the presence of a star like Urmila, neither the music nor the lyrics does any justice to her image.
The song sung by Pawni Pandey is also a miss on her part. Having said that, the music video has zero to none dance moves to match with the background music. Another miss in the comeback song is Urmila’s dressing and her whole makeover. The glittery low waist sari is cringe worthy dress and the choice of jewelry is way too old fashioned.
Adding to all these flaws, the two-minute long video features Urmila for less than half of its total span and has more clips from the movie scenes.
Although Urmila was seen on several reality shows after taking a break from Bollywood, this song was her official comeback attempt to the silver screen. Urmila tied the knot with businessman Mohsin Akhtar in 2016.
The song is from the comedy flick ‘Blackmail’ directed by Abhinay Deo and stars Divya Dutta, Gajraj Rao alongside Irrfan. The movie is slated to release on April 6. Even though the song seems like a typical Bollywood item number, the director is insisting that for a "massive star" like Urmila, the words 'item song' are not appropriate.
