The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Inspector General Police Sindh over concealing names of some police officers involved in criminal activities. A five-member bench of the SC, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, resumed hearing of the Karachi law and order situation case at the Karachi Registry here Tuesday.
The court also ordered IGP Fayyaz Leghari to present on Thursday a list of his department's officials involved in crimes with details of what action was being taken against them.
In his remarks, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain said traders are in uncertainty and shifting their investment abroad due to poor law and order situation in Karachi where even wanted policemen have been posted at police stations and high security zones. The court directed to suspend several police officials involved in crimes, before adjourning the case for Thursday. The court instructed the IGP to submit a reply within a day and adjourned the hearing of the case until tomorrow (February 27).
