Founder Tehrike Minhajul Quran (TMQ) Dr Tahirul Qadri is flying to his adopted country Canada ostensible for medical checkup after dominating the country's political scene for two months with his outbursts against the Election Commission and political environment. While talking to media on Tuesday at TMQ Secretariat, Model Town, Allama Qadri said he would leave for Canada for medical checkup by a private airline on Wednesday night.
He promised to return home by 11th March after completion of his week-long medical checkup. He reiterated that corrupt elements are a danger for the survival of the country and their access to assemblies should be stopped and added that his party had formed a fifteen member's parliamentary board to receive application from the candidates who intended to contest coming general election on his party ticket. A final decision to give the party tickets to the contesting candidates would be made on March 16, the day when assemblies would be dissolved after completion of their five year term.
He said that he would address the big public gathering at Liaqat Bagh on March 17, which would be the starting point of the election campaign for the general election. He further said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had forward amended bill of public representation to President of Pakistan for final approval adding that if chief election commissioner is serious to prove his impartiality he must stick to this proposed amended bill. He further said that proposals and suggestion are under consideration to amend the manifesto of the party.
In response to a question he said that his reservations regarding the formation of the ECP had not been addressed. Qadri said despite his reservations not being addressed by the court, he would continue his sincere efforts and support to any steps to ensure free and fair elections.
