The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has envisaged an ambitious plan of educating the poor out of school children who didn't attend any formal schooling due to their abject poverty and lack of necessary resources. Under this plan, the foundation shall arrange education of as many as four million such children during the next five years in the province through partner schools so that these children could earn their livelihood in an honourable way after completing their studies.
This was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Muhammad Anwar while addressing the district co-ordination meeting of PEF partner schools of district Okara at Renala Khurd today. Addressing the foundation, the PEF Chairman said that under this programme, students shall also be offered free technical and skilled based education to further improve their economic prospects. He said that at present, 1.3 million deserving students are enrolled in various educational programmes of PEF in different districts and after this expansion, the total number of beneficiary students shall increase to 5.3 million in the province.
