Fulfilling its social obligation, the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has issued more than 10,000 free travelling bus cards to the senior citizen of Lahore for first time in the history of Pakistan. LTC is also providing free travelling concession to the disabled persons in the metropolis city.
Moreover "Student Green Card Scheme" has also been initiated to facilitate the students to get benefit from discount in transport fare. This was stated by Chairman Lahore Transport Company, Khawaja Ahmed Hassan while addressing Board of Directors of LTC here on Wednesday.
LTC is playing a key role in transforming urban transport culture of the city. Around 500 state of the art buses were introduced on 33 urban routes; many dysfunctional routes have been reopened. Modern transport facilities have been provided to the residents of Muridkey, Kamonki, Chunian, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Marraka through development of connectivity by air conditioned buses of International standard.
Metro bus service was the brain child of LTC which proved to be milestone in introducing mass transit system of urban transport, he added. He said the LTC Board has approved Pink Bus Service as a regular scheme and LTC will ply pink buses on major routes of the provincial metropolis.
The chairman also apprised the Board about operational status of various urban routes in which R.A Bazar, Jallo/ Wagha, Railway Station, Green Town, Defence, Chunghi Amarsidhu, Thokar Niaz Baig, Model Town, Liaqatabad, Bhaati, Nishtar Colony and in other areas of city.
Directors of the Board, Secretary Transport Wasim Mukhtar, City Traffic Officer Captain Sohail Chaudhry (Retd.), Javed Masud, Yawar Irfan, Ahsan Chughtai. CEO LTC Khawaja Haider Latif, COO Umar Pirzada, Chief Financial Officer Mariyam khawar and other officers were also present.
