Senior poet Yaad Siddiqui passed away Wednesday due to lungs failure at a local hospital, says a press release. Yaad Siddiqui was admitted to hospital after suffering lung ailment where he breathed his last. He leaves behind two sons, two daughters and a widow besides a large number of literary friends and arts lovers to mourn his death.
The funeral prayers will be held after Zohr on Thursday and he will be laid to rest at Model Colony graveyard, Shah Faisal Town. Former Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi and prominent poet Dr Pirzada Qasim said Yaad Siddiqui was a very active person in poetic gathering and he always promoted Urdu and Urdu poets within his capacity.
Prominent poet, linguist and author of Shairyaat, Naseer Turabi said Yaad Siddiqui is a close friend and his death may leave a vacuum which will be difficult to fill up for years. Poets and friends including Jazib Quraishi, Manzar Ayubi, Eijaz Rehmani, Naseer Koti, Shahid Hameed, Rafiuddin Raaz, Arshad Rizvi, Zeb Azkar, Ehtesham Anwar, Anwer Jawaid Hashmi and Akhtar Anjum termed Yaad Siddiqui a good poet and also a good gentleman who will always be remembered.-PR
