Peace Education and Development Foundation (PEAD) after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has extended its educational and peace promoting activities to Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA). The purpose of extending activities to FATA was to sensitize the youth about their rights and obligations to help them understand the significance of their active participation in socio-political and economic activities.
In this regard an awareness seminar titled as "Youth Voices", was organised by PEAD Foundation at Degree College Jamrud, Khyber Agency on Wednesday. Students from various educational institutions of Khyber Agency, principals, teachers and dignitaries were among the attendance.
Addressing the seminar Programme Manager PEAD Foundation, Tariq Hayat said the PEAD is committed to education sector reforms in KP and FATA adding that "Youth Voices" project is especially designed for youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA to provide them a platform where they can polish their hidden capabilities and utilize their potential. "Youth are more likely to avoid violence and engage in peace building if they are granted a specific set of opportunities, interrelated and mutually reinforcing, which we call threshold conditions for peace promotion", he said.
Tariq remarked that the purpose of launching of "Youth Voices" in Fata is to involve tribal youth in political participation, forging connections between youth and their communities, building constituencies for peace, training youth for the workplace and building youth confidence and self-esteem.
