Workers Welfare Board (WWB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is seriously considering the offer of free provision of 2,000 Kanal land for the construction of a big and modern labour complex in district Nowshera. This was disclosed by KP Minister for Labour Sher Azam Wazir while talking to media here on Tuesday.
He said the provincial minister said the government had no scarcity of funds for initiating workers welfare-oriented schemes, saying the previous governments were lacking spirit and resolve, which had been removed. He said all concerned authorities in that regard had been activated.
Sher Azam Wazir said that PPP would win the upcoming general elections with overwhelming majority and would continue the service of the labourers' community of the province with the same zeal and spirit. He said the provincial government had decided to construct a modern commercial plaza on the land of Workers Welfare Board. The income of the project, he said would be spent on the welfare of labourers, adding that after the completion of construction work, all offices of the board would be shifted to it to save expenses in head of rents.
Sher Azam Wazir said the provincial government was taking revolutionary measures for bringing improvement in the lives of workers and a hefty amount of Rs 35 million was being issued only for payment of educational scholarships to the children of workers. The project, he said, would be first workers welfare-oriented mega project in the province, adding that on the basis of its utilities it be a big gift of the government for labourers.
He on this occasion further said that due to the personal efforts of Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti a modern labour city would be constructed at the cost of billions of rupees in Mardan. The project, he said besides provision of modern residential facilities would also provide education, health and other basic facilities at their door steps to labourers.
