The Karachi Port handled 67,405 tonnes of cargo comprising 51,243 tonnes of import cargo and 16,162 tonnes of export cargo including 1,817 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 51,243 tonnes comprised 9,740 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,037 tonnes of general cargo; 25,570 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,070 tonnes of coal; 18,500 tonnes of cement and 146,896 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 16,162 tonnes comprised 11,936 tonnes of containerised cargo; 615 tonnes of general cargo; 416 tonnes of rice and 3,195 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 1,817 containers comprising 889 containers import and 928 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 235 of 20's and 204 of 40's loaded while 20 of 20's and 113 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 301 of 20's and 148 of 40's loaded containers while 173 of 20's and 79 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are five ships namely Kota Karim, Northern Prelude, Bum Chin, FPMC P Eagle and BBC Rhine with two container ships, one ethanol tanker, one naphtha tanker and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels viz Naxihe, MT Quetta, Constantinos and Dream-H with one container ship, two oil tankers and one sugar carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Aysan, Lodestar Genesis and Chabok with one container ship, one chemicals carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely Naxihe, Rio Bravo, MT Quetta and Constantinos with two container ships and two oil tankers are expected to sail on Friday.
There are four Rio Bravo, Santa Rosa, APL Brisbane and Victory with three container ships and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz Sapphire T, IDC Diamond, Calmy Coral and Maha B with one ethanol tanker, one coal carrier, one general cargo ship and one project cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 56,444 tonnes comprising 45,392 tonnes of import cargo and 11,052 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,273 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 45,392 tonnes includes 24,951 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,565 tonnes of chemicals and 15,876 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 11,052 tonnes includes 195 tonnes of rice and 10,857 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Strauss and MT Mercur with containers and chemicals respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday.
A total number of six vessels viz CV CMA CGM Strauss, CV Harmmonia Pacificum, MV Mercy Wisdom, MV Denny-Z, MT Mercur and MT Karachi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely New Delhi Express, MSC Clementina, Anette Kosan, Atlantic Glory, Bunga Angsana, Al-Soor-II and Dai Duong Sunrise with containers, chemicals, edible oil, diesel oil and iron ore respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. No vessels are expected to take berths on Thursday. There are six ships namely CV New Delhi Express, CV MSC Clementina, MV Anette Kosan, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Bunga Angsana and MV Dai Duong Sunrise with containers, chemicals, edible oil and iron ore respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
