Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday called the passage of Jinnah Sindh Medical University Bill by Sindh Assembly as 'uncconstitutional' and 'immoral. Talking to newsmen outside the Sindh Assembly building, MQM parliamentary leader, Syed Sardar Ahmed said "a new black chapter was added to the assembly's legislation today".
He said Jinnah Sindh Medical University bill was presented and passed from house unconstitutionally and immorally. He said the lawmakers of ruling PPP had created bad precedent of legislation. He said the bill which took 15 days of mutual consultation of MQM and PPP, was withdrawn and a new bill was tabled within a minute. He said the copies of the bill were not provided to the lawmakers.
He said the MQM would not play the role of friendly opposition and would resist unconstitutional moves in the house, but will always support the government's good policies. He said that consideration of the bill should have been deferred till Monday and till then every lawmakers would have been able to go through the text of the proposed law.
Deputy Parliamentary leader of MQM, Faisal Sabzwari, said Sindh Education and Law ministers had assured the MQM of deferring the bill till next session on Monday. He said MQM was not against the establishment of universities but against the thinking of occupying the academic institutions. He said syndicate should be constituted in the institute.
