The Karachi Port handled 167,697 tonnes of cargo comprising 145,754 tonnes of import cargo and 21,943 tonnes of export cargo including 3,753 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 145,754 tonnes comprised 23,827 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,980 tonnes of general cargo; 32,349 tonnes of bulk cargo: 24,900 tonnes of coal; 7,449 tonnes of canola and 87,598 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,943 tonnes comprised 20,734 tonnes of containerised cargo; 512 tonnes of general cargo; 697 tonnes of bulk cargo: 417 tonnes of rice and 280 tonnes of sugar. As many as 3,753 containers comprising 1,852 containers import and 1,901 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 521 of 20's and 535 of 40's loaded while 101 of 20's and 80 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 611 of 20's and 320 of 40's loaded containers while 146 of 20's and 252 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are three ships namely Aysan, Lodestar Genesis and Chabok with one container ship, one chemicals carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are six vessels viz Rio Bravo, Santa Rosa, APL Brisbane, Aysan, Fareast Harmony and Victory with four container ships, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Rio Bravo, MT Quetta and Rinia with one container ship, one oil tanker and one coal carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely Santa Rosa, APL Brisbane and Constantinos with two container ships and one oil tanker are expected to sail on Saturday.
There are three IDC Diamond, Calmy Coral and Maha B with one coal carrier, one general cargo ship and one project cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Friday, while seven vessels viz COSCO Tianjin, STX Patraikos, Sapphire I, Pacific Horizon-II, Union Ranger, Sea Wave and Hanzl Goster with two container ships, two ethanol tankers, one rock phosphate carrier, one cement carrier and one steel ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 87,268 tonnes includes 45,031 tonnes of furnace oil; 17,986 tonnes of edible oil; 2,579 tonnes of chemicals and 21,672 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,204 tonnes includes 1,702 tonnes of rice; 802 tonnes of wheat and 35,700 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There are four ships namely CV New Delhi Express, CV MSC Clementina, CV Harmmonia Pacificum and MT Karachi with containers and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely MV Anette Kosan with chemicals is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz CV New Delhi Express, CV MSC Clementina, CV Harmmonia Pacificum, MV Mercy Wisdom, MV Denny-Z, MV Anette Kosan, MT Karachi, MT Atlantic Glory and MT Bunga Angsana are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Al-Soor-II, Dai Duong Sunrise and Al-Khalidia with diesel oil, iron ore and crude oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. No vessels are expected to take berths at Qasim Port on Friday. An oil tanker namely MT Al-Soor-II with diesel oil is due to arrive on Friday.
