With the co-operation of philanthropists, the province's largest dialysis centre has been set up at Lahore General Hospital. Accordingly, the numbers of dialysis machines installed here have been reached to 26 with the arrival of 10 new ones. Dr Sarfaraz Islam, a philanthropist lady has shared major financial chunk by donating Rs 150 million for the establishment of this up gradation.
The inauguration ceremony of up graded dialysis center held on Wednesday, was attended by Dr Sarfaraz Islam and her family members, Professor Anjum Habib Vohra, Principal PGMI and LGH, Dr Muhammad Hassan, MS LGH, Professor of Urology Dr Ahmed Salman Waris, Dr Khalid Hussain, In-charge dialysis centre, doctors, nurses and attendants of the patients.
Professor Anjam Habib Vohra said that philanthropists and donors are the pride of our society. Those who love poor and destitute earn honour and laurel not only in their worldly life but also ensure their success in the life to come. He said that the donations are being spent in a very transparent way and all the expenses used for the patient's wellbeing are strictly monitored at LGH.
This is why that the members of Patient Welfare Society are happily and willingly involved in a number of welfare projects being completed at the hospital, he said. Professor Ahmed Salman Waris and Dr Khalid Hussain said on this occasion that most of the kidney related problems are resulted by sugar, blood pressure and treatment by quakes.
They said that people should always approach to qualified doctors and government hospitals for treatment. They said that dialysis of 1500 patients are being carried out every month free of cost at LGH. This process costs Rs 100 million annually, which is going to be doubled with the installation of new machines. They said that new machines installed at LGH would provide more facilities to patients.
