Pierre Mayaudon, Deputy Head of Delegation of European Union (EU) to Pakistan and Husnain Iftikhar, Senior Trade Advisor of Delegation of European Union (EU) to Pakistan will visit Karachi Fish Harbour on Thursday (today). The team will visit two seafood companies M/s. Akhlaq Enterprises and M/s. A. G. Fisheries, which have been re-listed by the EU. They will also inspect auction hall and modified boats.
On their arrival, Director General, Marine Fisheries Department (MFD), Government of Pakistan will give them briefing. In this regard the KFHA has made arrangements. A meeting of all stakeholders was also held in the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KFHA) and presided over by Abdul Ghani Jokhio, Managing Director, KFHA. He said that lifting of the ban was the result of joint efforts of all stakeholders, particularly KFHA, Sindh Government and MFD who not only convince all the actors involved in fisheries sector's to bring the catch upto safety standards in line with the global standards. Iftikhar Zaidi, President, Pakistan Fisheries Exporters Association, Representatives of MFD, FCS, STOFA, Bonafide fishermen, Moleholders, Boat Builders etc attended the meeting.-PR
