The Sindh Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution to pay tribute to former Sindh Archives Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) provincial lawmaker, Muhammad Rafiq Engineer, for his services to democracy. Syed Murad Ali Shah tabled a resolution to praise him for his services to the nation and development of Lyari - the city's oldest locality which he was belonged to.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) lawmaker, Abdul Rauf Siddiqui, called Rafiq "a political critic", saying he was expert of law and it was not far he would have joined the stature of Constitutional expert, had he lived more. Sindh Food Minister, Nadir Magsi appealed to the people of Lyari to support his family. Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Memon called for legislation to support financially the families of those MPAs, who die during their tenure.
PPP's Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Murad Ali Shah, Sassui Palejo, Anwar Ahmed Khan Mehar, Manzoor Wasan, Aga Siraj Durrani, Akhtar Hussain Jadoon, Makhdoom Jamil, Shama Mithani, Humera Alwani, Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional's Syeda Marvi Rashdi, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi and Rana Abdul Sattar, Pakistan Muslim League-Likeminded's Abdul Razzaq Rahimon and MQM's Syed Sardar Ahmed, Faisal Sabzwari and Izharul Hassan paid tribute to Rafiq Engineer.
