ISLAMABAD: The hours long gas and electricity load-shedding has badly affected the Manchester of Pakistan (Faisalabad) where around three lakh people have lost their jobs due to closure of the industries.
MNA Fazal Kareem, speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly said his city was a business hub after Karachi and playing a key role in economic development of the country but prolonged load-shedding and shortage of gas had affected business activities.
He urged that government should review their polices on urgent basis to resolve these problems, adding that 12 to 15 hours of electricity load-shedding in Faisalabad and no proper supply of gas to the industrial sector has worsened the situation.
Abid Sher Ali said that government should register case in National Accountability Bureau against those who are involved in the NICL scandle and recovered Rs. 300 billion from them.
Abdul Malik Wazir said that government should establish Utility Stores in FATA and provide relief to the common people of this backward area.
Bushra Gohar said that fresh survey of Benazir Income Support Programme is not fair and transparent in district Swabi. She called for a fresh survey to include deserving people in it.
Syed Asim Hussain urged that government should open discussion in the National Assembly on formation of new provinces in the country.
Yousaf Talpur informed the house that around 10 million people were affected in the recent flood in Sindh but still they are living without shelter.
He said that National Disaster Management Authority should provide blankets to the victim families on emergency basis in this winter season.
