Pierre Mayaudon, Deputy Head of Delegation of European Union (EU) to Pakistan along with Husnain Iftikhar, Senior Trade Advisor of Delegation of European Union (EU) to Pakistan visited the Karachi Fish Harbour on Thursday. On his arrival Shaukat Hussain, Director General, Marine Fisheries Department (MFD) briefed him about the steps taken for the improvement of Karachi Fish Harbour by the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KFHA) and other stakeholders.
The EU dignitaries visited the two seafood companies M/s. Akhlaq Enterprises and M/s. A. G. Fisheries who have been re-listed by EU followed by a meeting with Abdul Ghani Jokhio, Managing Director, KFHA. The Managing Director informed the EU delegation about the efforts made for the improvement of Karachi Fish Harbour. He further informed that further revamping of the Karachi Fish Harbour was under way with the financial assistance of Government of Sindh.
Pierre Mayaudon, Deputy Head of Delegation of EU termed his visit very successful. During the visit he went to auction hall, two processing plants, modified boats. He appreciated the arrangements made by the KFHA for the betterment of Karachi Fish Harbour. He termed re-listing of two companies as a good development and hope that further seafood companies would also be re-listed if they comply with the EU standards.-PR
