Participants of a workshop have called for further amendments to Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) in letter and in spirit, formation of Fata Council and representation of women, provision of free education, abolition of drone attacks and curtailment of the powers of political administration.
The workshop was organised under the auspices of Shaheed Bhutto Foundation (SBF) for tribal students of the University of Peshawar. The workshop was attended by more than seventy tribal students of four public sector universities of the city.
Addressing the participants of the workshop, Chief Executive, Shaheed Bhutto Foundation, Commander Khalid M Shafi said that with the efforts of the foundation the phase-wise mainstreaming of Fata had begun. He said that due to their efforts amendments have been introduced in the FCR law and Political Parties Act had extended while local governments had also been introduced in the tribal region.
Director, Area Study Centre, Professor Dr Sarfaraz said that the strict enforcement of Constitution and law guarantee the actual independence of the people, saying in the presence of the cruel and blind law, tribesmen could not be called independent and their independence is the manifesto of Shaheed Bhutto Foundation.
