Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Sunday said that the party's manifesto would be unveiled on March 23 at the Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore. Addressing a rally here, he said, "The manifesto will explain how the PTI will build a new Pakistan."
According to Khan, the PTI was the first party, which was not based on family dynasties and ordinary members were given the opportunity to become party leaders. "PTI is a democratic party. It will not become a family limited party like PPP and PML-N," he said, adding that 50-year-old parties had no guts to hold intra-party elections. "The day my party members elect Suleman Khan [Imran Khan's son] as the party leader, I will resign," he declared.
The PTI chairman said that the biggest problem faced by Pakistan was corruption and incompetent leadership. He said that if elected his party would resolve the terrorism issue through dialogue.
"We are the first party who asked each and every member to declare their assets and we have put up the results on our website," Imran added. Imran Khan also condemned the Quetta and Badami Bagh incidents. He said if the Punjab government had caught the terrorists in Gojra, then this attack could have been avoided altogether.
"If this Punjab government does not make seat adjustment with terrorists then terrorism can be curbed. In a message to violence-hit people of the tribal areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said his party alone has the solution to address the issue of militancy.
During his address, Khan also announced that the party had started the Tabdeeli Razakar (Volunteer Change) programme. The programme will comprise of one million people, he said, adding that this team would also block any bid to rig the elections.
After the rally, a staircase had broken injuring seven people. The incident occurred when workers present on stage tried to follow Imran Khan on the stage.
