Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that no government will be able to pull out of the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project. In a media interview, Kaira said whoever formed the government in the country would not retract from this energy project. Petroleum Adviser Dr Asim Hussain hoped that timely completion of the project would help Pakistan resolve the energy crisis.
The project, scheduled to complete by January 2015, would help generate 4000 to 5000MW of electricity on a daily basis. Replying to a question, he said that IP gas pipeline project was not against any country. He said that heads of state of both the countries were keen to inaugurate the mega project because it had great importance for regional co-operation. Replying to another question about Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (Tapi) project, he said this project was too difficult to start because its execution was greatly dependent on conditions in Afghanistan. He said the regional stability could not be possible without maintaining peace in Afghanistan.
