The main opposition party in Sindh Assembly- Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has not yet disclosed the names of its candidates for caretaker chief minister in the province, waiting for the ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to make its contenders public.
The MQM seemed to be the last political party to make its candidates public as it has sought time till Friday to let the ruling PPP know of its decision on caretaker chief minister, sources said on Wednesday. Within two days, the opposition parties are expected to come up with consensus candidates for the caretaker chief minister, sources said.
However, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Pakistan Muslim League-Likeminded (PML-L) and National Peoples Party came up with names for the caretaker chief minister of the province, as consultations on interim set-up began to witness impetus amongst the opposition, according to sources.

However, opposition parties are unsure the disclosure of names could weaken their political position at initial stage, they said. They said PML-F, NPP and PML-L have proposed names to the opposition leader, Syed Sardar Ahmed, for the caretaker chief minister.
PML-F and NPP have nominated Abdullah Hussain Haroon, Khair Muhammad Junejo and Muhammad Aslam Sanjrani as their candidates for the race. PML-L chose former justice Syed Ali Shah, Dr Muhammad Azeem Almani and former justice Sadiq Laghari for the caretaker chief minister, sources said.
