The Sindh Assembly on Friday enacted 'the Sindh Industrial Relations Bill, 2013' into law with a view to revive trade unionism in the province and bridge the gap between workers and establishment owners. After the passage of 18th Amendment, the subject of industrial relations passed to the provincial government, said a PPP lawmaker, Humera Alwani, adding that the law would revive trade unionism in the province.
PPP lawmaker, Syed Bachal Shah said the law would protect industrial workers' rights. He said the law would protect jobs and the rights of the working class. PPP legislator Perveen Mughal said the passage of the law finally accomplished her party's manifesto. She said trade and student unionism had been the dream of late PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
