Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti has approved the establishment of municipal committees in Mastuj, District Chitral, Doaba, District Hangu and Oghi, District Mansehra on trial basis initially for a one-year period subject to the condition that the municipal committees would arrange its establishment cost from its own resources.
It is worth mentioning here that in pursuance to the promulgation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act 2012, the chief minister had approved the establishment of one municipal corporation, 25 district councils, and 57 municipal committees in the province. However, TMA Mastuj, TMA Oghi and Town Committee Doaba were not given the status of municipal committees for falling short of some criteria, but later on the elected representatives of the areas Ghulam Mohammad, Wajih-u-Zaman and Pir Haider Ali Shah had requested the chief minister for the establishment of municipal committees in their respective tehsils; and the same has been approved by the chief minister.
