The Karachi Port handled 86,424 tonnes of cargo comprising 56,845 tonnes of import cargo and 29,579 tonnes of export cargo including 2,074 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 56,845 tonnes comprised 11,663 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,033 tonnes of general cargo; 18,926 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,753 tonnes of coal; 1,173 tonnes of soda ash and 25,223 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,579 tonnes comprised 25,556 tonnes of containerised cargo; 422 tonnes of general cargo; 3,601 tonnes of bulk cargo: and 1,451 tonnes of cement and 2,150 tonnes of talcum powder. As many as 2,074 containers comprising 634 containers import and 1,440 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 388 of 20's and 119 of 40's loaded while 6 of 20's and 1 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 710 of 20's and 271 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 94 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are five ships namely Hyundai Bangkok, Kota Arif, Nave Cassiopia, MT Quetta and King Merry with two container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are six vessels viz UASC Ramadi, Kota Gentang, Global Frontier, Lord Byron, Birch-2 and Ghang Hang Ma with two container ships, three bulk cargo ships and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. There are three ships namely UASC Ramadi, Kota Gentang and Trader-2 with two container ships and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
There are four vessels viz Santa Rafeala, APL Brisbane, Global Peace and Anna Maria with two container ships, one naphtha tanker and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while three vessels viz APL Guangzhou, Inlaco Express and Maori Maiden with one container ship, one rice carrier and one coal carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 13,386 tonnes comprising 6,992 tonnes of import cargo and 6,394 tonnes of export cargo inclusive nil loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 6,992 tonnes includes 3,800 tonnes of edible oil and 3,192 tonnes of wheat. The total export cargo of 6,394 tonnes includes 5,117 tonnes of cement and 1,277 tonnes of steel.
An oil tanker namely MT Argent Daisy with edible oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning. A total number of five vessels viz CV Al-Mutanabi, MV Sea Gull-D, MT Mighty Ocean, MV Reecon Emre and MT Argent Daisy are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement steel, wheat and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely Nedlloyd Drake, CMA CGM Puccini, Chem Road Nova, Argent Bloom, Maritime Vanessa, Birch-2, Union Mariner and Al-Salam-II with containers, edible oil, wheat, canola seeds and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. One container vessel is expected to take berth at Qasim International Container Terminal on Wednesday morning. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Puccini and MT Chem Road Nova with containers and edible oil are due to arrive on Wednesday as per arrival schedule.
