During the March 23 public meeting, Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will make an appeal for fund-raising to finance election campaign. While talking to reporters here on Friday, he said without money politics was not possible; however it needed to be determined whether the source money used for political campaigns was legal or illegal. "I have always raised voice against election campaigns that were funded by taxpayers' money," he added.
On Pak-Iran gas pipeline agreement, he said it had taken many years for the government to finalise the deal, that too on the eve of general elections. It was just a political gimmick, he added. About seat adjustment with different political parties, he told newsmen that PTI would not make an alliance with a political party that was in government during the last five years. He said it would not hold talks or make seat adjustment with politicians who were part of loot and plunder of national resources.
However, he showed readiness to make seat adjustment with Jamaat-e-Islami, Awami Muslim League and Nawab Salahuddin of Bahawalpur. When asked about the possible outcome of the forthcoming general elections, he said he was a sportsman and hence he always entered a ground with a winning mindset. However, he said if they did not emerge winners after the elections, they would continue with the struggle for New Pakistan.
He was of the opinion that a huge majority of people wanted a change in the country. "And the success of March 23 public meeting will show the people of our capability of brining a change in Pakistan. After that no force will be able to stop the party from sweeping the general elections," he added. He observed that the people were exasperated by the traditional politicians and now they wanted a complete change; they would not settle for lesser evil. He expected to see around half a million people at the public meeting. Highlighting his party's position if voted in to power, he said only 18 ministries would be set up and that too would be distributed on merit. He categorically stated that no one would be facilitated during award of portfolios.
