Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that forthcoming general elections would save and build Pakistan. He said the country had been pushed back 50 years during the last five years of Peoples Party's rule, which had destroyed national institutions, because of its inefficiency, adding that people would hold accountability of looters and thieves on May 11.
He said energy crisis could not be tackled during the last five years, which was a living proof of incompetence of former federal rulers, adding that 18-hour long loadshedding was rampant in the country, people's lives had become miserable, economy has been destroyed, industrial sector is logjammed, while the corrupt rulers had embezzled billions of rupees while on their way out. He said if people gave another opportunity to serve, Pakistan Muslim League-N would, Insha Allah, resolve energy crisis within two years.
Chief Minister expressed these views while talking to leader of PML-N Lashkari Raisani from Balochistan who met with him at Model Town on Friday. Dr Ramesh Kumar was also present on the occasion. During the meeting political situation of the country, Balochistan scenario and forthcoming general elections came under discussion.
Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab government of PML-N had honestly served the people during the last five years while its public service record was before the people, who would give their verdict in general elections on May 11. He said "we have served the 100 million people of Punjab despite difficulties and opposition by former federal government.
He said Punjab government of PML-N had completed record development projects, adding that during the previous five years' rule of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, only Rs 52 billions were spent on the development of south Punjab, while the Punjab government of PML-N had spent an amount of Rs 290 billion in south Punjab, during its tenure.
Shahbaz Sharif said situation in Balochistan was a matter of great concern for the patriotic circles, and there was a need to heal the wounds of Balochistan. He said, if Allah Almighty gave another opportunity to serve the people, problems of Balochistan would be solved on priority basis, under the dynamic leadership of Nawaz Sharif. He said "we have submitted names of respectable and honest personalities for caretaker setup in Punjab, while the names given by the opposition are not acceptable." He said Zardari gang had pushed the country into darkness and despondency during the last five years, due to which PPP would be politically finished in forthcoming general elections.
