The Ambassador of Republic of Poland to Pakistan Dr Andrzej Ananicz along with Deputy Head of Mission Wieslaw Kucharek, First Secretaries Piotr Adamkiewicz and Mrs Anna Czuchry has inaugurated Polish Consulate in Karachi with their newly appointed Honorary Consul of Poland to Sindh and Balochistan Mirza Omair Baig.
Mirza Omair Baig said that Pakistan and Poland enjoy historic relationship and Poland always assisted Pakistan at the time of need. Poland has helped Pakistan for setting up Pak Air Force. The prominent and noted Polish-Pakistani military scientist Air Commodore Wladyslaw J. M. Turowicz with 30 other Polish pilots and technicians gave training to the Pakistani Pilots.
He served Pakistan through out his life and never returned to Poland. Omair Baig hopes that the opening of new Polish Consulate in Karachi will facilitate businessmen and would help to enhance bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. The present trade between Poland and Pakistan is US $113 million. Pakistan exports cotton textile and leather products to Poland and imports minerals, steel, dairy products, etc, from Poland.
Polish companies are actively engaged in Pakistan in Oil and Gas Sector. Poland is a member of the European Union and recently had presidency of EU. A number of Pakistani companies have opened their offices in Poland to cater for the regional European market mainly in textile sector. Poland is considered to have modern technology of shale gas and many polish gas exploration companies are operating in Dadu. The Polish Ambassador with the heads of the Polish companies also visited schools established with the support of Poland in Dadu, Sindh.
The dinner reception hosted on this occasion was attended by the Ambassador of Poland visiting senior officials of the Embassy of Poland, representatives of Polish companies operating in Pakistan, leaders of business community, Nisar Khoro, Dr Farooq Sattar, Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Ishtiaq Baig, Shahrukh Hasan, Fazal Kader Sherani, Byram Avari, Abid Javed Akbar, Amin Wali Mohammad, Rana Zahid Tauseef, Tariq Kirmani, Consuls General of USA, British Dy. High Commissioner, Germany, Russia, Korea, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Oman, Indonesia, Qatar, Ms Anu Prattipati of US Consulate and others.-PR
