Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have decided to finalise seat adjustment for the upcoming general election within three days. The decision was taken at a meeting between the top leaders of the parties at the residence of PTI chief Imran Khan, here on Sunday.
JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan led his party's team which included Dr Muhammad Kamal, Liaquat Baloch, Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar and Prof Ibrahim Khan. Imran Khan was assisted by Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Arif Alvi, Ejaz Chaudhary, Shafqat Mehmud Cheema and Aleem Khan.
The meeting decided that seat adjustment would be made in the light of the reports of the relevant committees from both sides at the provincial level.
Later, talking to the media Imran Khan said that there was no party other than JI that could be relied upon. He said that Munawar Hasan and his team comprised of honest people who had played the role of real opposition during the last five years.
Speaking on the occasion, the JI Chief said that in order to make Pakistan corruption free, the rulers must themselves be corruption free. He was of the view that Imran Khan had lit the light of hope and given new courage to the people. Munawar said that as there was a very short time left for the general election, the concerned committees of both the parties would be directed to decide the mechanism for seat adjustment at the earliest.
To a question about caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, he said that his party had a great respect for the Election Commission and that they welcome the appointment of Khoso.
