The Code of Corporate Governance (Code) 2012 made it a mandatory requirement for all the listed companies to make arrangements to carry out directors' training programme for at least one director of the company per year.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) launched the Directors' Training Programme (DTP) in January 2013 to facilitate the professionals in discharging their duties well and to enable them to effectively manage the affairs of the listed companies for and on behalf of shareholders.
The four-day certification course duly approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) is conducted in two sessions of two days each. After the successful launch of the DTP, ICAP is conducting another session on March 25th, 26th, 2013, in Lahore as well as the concluding session of the January session.
The faculty for the session comprises of eminent professionals like ex-chairman SECP Tariq Hassan, PACRA chairman Adnan Afaq, former MD PPL Khalid Rehman past president ICAP Mujahid Eshai, Abdul Rahim Suriya, Dr. Rizwan Amin Sheikh, Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed, and Fahim ul Hassan, who will share their experience and knowledge in DTP session 1&2. The participants are all from the top management from the multinational and listed companies of Pakistan; earlier 33 participants attended the DTP in January.
