The speakers of the seminar organised by HANDS and other social organisations at the Deputy Commissioner Office Matiari on "Welfare of Girls", have demanded for brining amendment in Child Marriage Bill and making it more effective to prevent the child marriage in all sense, protect the rights of children and to convert it into welfare bill for children. They also demanded complete ban on the marriage of the girls below 18 years.
The General Secretary HANDS, Bilqees Rehman said that child marriage not only affect the health of children but push them in psychological problems as well. She said that child marriage has become a serious social problem of this country that needs much attention to get it resolved. The deputy general secretary of HANDS said that in rural areas not only child marriage is being committed but innocent girls are being sold out.
He termed this act as great violation of the human rights. He demanded that minimum age of 18 years should be fixed for marriage of girls and added that who soever violate this law be taken to task. The Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Hyderabad Farakh Bashir and other government officers, workers of NGOs, elite citizens attended the seminar.
