Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) potential candidates have filed their nomination papers for different constituencies of provincial capital on Saturday. PTI Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood, Brigadier Abbas (Retd) and Hamid Khan submitted their nomination papers for NA 125 (Lahore Cantonment) at the Session Court.
Shafqat Mahmood is also intending to submit his nomination papers for NA 126 (Model Town) and NA 127 (Green Town). It may be noted that PTI Chairman Imran Khan is also considering for contesting the elections from NA 126. While speaking to media outside the session court, PTI Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood said the combine forces of status quo could not stop the PTI tsunami. He also said the previous rulers had miserably failed to give relief to the masses and protect their life and property. "The people want a change in the country and in this connection they are looking toward the PTI. They all are disappointed with the performance of both PPP and PML-N," he added.
According to him, the PTI is the only political party in Pakistan which has allocated 25 percent of the total party tickets to youth. With the support of the youth, the PTI will sweep the May 11 general elections. Meanwhile, PTI President Punjab Ejaz Chaudhary submitted his nomination papers for NA 122 and PP 148, and PTI General Secretary Punjab Dr Yasin Rashid filed her papers for NA 127 and PP 154.
Among others, PTI potential candidates submitted their nominations papers include: PTI Joint Secretary Shabbir Sial for NA 127, PP 153 and PP 154; Dr Farooq Tahir Chisti for PP 156; Hamid Zaman and Yasir Gilani for NA 118; PTI Central Vice President Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed PP 151; Mian Hamid Miraj for NA 123 and PP 144; Waleed Iqbal and Jamshid Iqbal Cheema for NA 124; Malik Zaheer Khokar for NA 127, PP 151 and PP 160; Haji Karamat Khokar and Malik Zaheer Khokar for NA 128; Mansha Sindu and Malik Nawaz Awan for NA 129; Malik Waqar, Muhammad Madni, Hafiz Farahat Abbas and Muhammad Usman Gujjar for NA 119 and PP 137; Junaid Razaq for PP 138; PTI Lahore President Aleem Khan for NA 122, NA 125, NA 127, PP 147 and PP 152; Main Akran Usman for PP 149; Shahdab Jaferi for PP 147; Jamshid Butt for PP 140; Asghar Butt for PP 146; Mian Iftikhar for PP 145; Idris for PP 152; Ali Imtiaz for PP 159 and Sheikh Imtiaz for PP 150. The Election Commission of Pakistan had started issuing nomination papers on March 24, which could be filed till Sunday late night. It had extended the date for submission of nomination papers all over the country by two days.
