The Supreme Court has restored Asad I.A. Khan, as Managing Director of Nespak when he was suddenly overnight replaced by Tahir Shamshad, a Vice President in Islamabad Office of Nespak, on the last day of the outgoing government. In its judgement passed by the apex court on March 28, the Supreme Court ordered that Asad I. A. Khan shall resume the office of Chief Executive/MD Nespak until the expiry of his tenure.
The respondent Tahir Shamshad shall not act as MD Nespak. The Board of Directors of Nespak shall proceed in accordance with the Companies Ordinance 1984 for the purpose of appointing the Chief Executive/MD of the company. Asad I. A. Khan has been in service at Nespak for 29 years and as Vice President for over ten years. After graduation in Architecture in 1978, he proceeded to USA where he did his Master's from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1982 and on return in 1985 joined Nespak the same year as Senior Architect. Asad I. A. Khan is the grandson of Nawab Ismail Khan, a front rank leader of Pakistan Movement and son of I. A. Khan, a senior CSP officer. Asad I. A. Khan took over as Managing Director Nespak on April 6, 2009.
As an Architect of repute, Asad, before taking over as MD Nespak in 2009, had designed prestigious projects like the Prime Minister House Complex, Prime Minister Secretariat, Naval Headquarters Islamabad, Expo Centre Islamabad, Stock Exchange Building, the Telecom Tower besides designing reputed projects in Riyadh, Thailand and Bangkok. During his tenure as MD, Nespak grew from strength to strength by acquiring several new large development projects at home and abroad with architecture at the very core of its business operations. The company secured 107 new projects costing Rs 518 billion in and outside Pakistan during the year 2011-2012, which is an unprecedented record.-PR
