Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi have felicitated Christian community on Easter and called for the promotion of inter-faith harmony in the country.
Talking to a delegation, at their residence in Lahore under the leadership of former Federal Minister for National Harmony Akram Masih Gill, they said that during the tenure of PML, tolerance and brotherhood were promoted but during the rule of N-League govt many sad incidents like Gojra and Badami Bagh occurred due to which Pakistan felt ashamed in the entire world.
Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said further, we believe in promotion of inter-faith harmony and respect all religions and civilisations. Christian's services in the construction and development of Pakistan will always be remembered. Christian's role in the creation of Pakistan to construction of Pakistan is quite appreciable and matter of pride, they added. On this occasion, Akram Masih Gill said that festival of Easter gives a lesson of sacrifice and message of peace for all religions.
He further said that Christian community was grateful to Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi for expressing solidarity, showing sympathy over Badami Bagh incident, visiting Joseph Colony and playing important role in provision of assistance to the effected people from the Federal Government Akram Masih Gill appealed to the Christian community to ignore such parties in the upcoming general elections which had exploited the minorities and occupied the properties of Christian community.
