The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) gives a message of hope to the poor by opening the doors of education to their children. PEF model of public private partnership has won international recognition and acclaim due to its effectiveness and good results. Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Anwar stated this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of a PEF partner school at Daroghawalla on Sunday.
Addressing the ceremony, he said that the prime aim of educational system is to promote development of the personality, talents as well as mental and physical capabilities of students so that they could effectively play their role in the society. He said that the function of schools is not only to give the students knowledge and skills, but also to open-up spheres of experience and development in which the children can get to know themselves and become familiar with the world, and which will comprehensively foster the development of their personalities.
Raja Anwar further said that world is characterised by rapid changes; increasing globalisation and complex socio-economic and cultural relations are affecting our daily lives. Education and knowledge are progressively becoming driving force behind our new social and economic structures. Education acts as an integrative force by communicating values that unite different sections of the society, he added. Our schools should also sensitise their students about the essential knowledge of social skills and values of the wider society so that they could understand the diversity factor in the society, he said.
