Punjab Interim Chief Minister Najam Sethi has asked the authorities concerned to improve the performance of hospitals with regard to medical facilities besides setting up monitoring units for checking the efficiency of doctors and paramedics in all public sector hospitals.
Monitoring units will directly inform the special cell set up at the Chief Minister's Secretariat about public complaints, he said, while presiding over a high level meeting to review treatment facilities in hospitals and the measures taken to prevent the outbreak of measles, at Chief Minister's Secretariat on Thursday. Minister for Health Salima Hashmi, Secretary Health, Secretary Information, Director General Health Services, Director General Public Relations, medical experts and officers concerned were present.
Sethi said that maximum resources will be provided for the provision of modern treatment facilities to the patients in government hospitals. He directed that availability of the best treatment facilities should be ensured in government hospitals and their standard should be in accordance with the expectations of the people. He said that satisfaction of the people is the only yardstick for evaluating the performance of hospitals. He said that modern medical facilities should be available to the patients in government hospitals. He said that measures should be taken on war footing to save the children from measles. He said that vaccination of children against measles should be ensured and all out preventive measures should be adopted to curb this disease. He said that promotion of awareness in the masses is of vital importance to protect the children against measles, therefore a vigorous public awareness campaign should be launched regarding preventive measures against this disease. Secretary Health informed the Chief Minister about the steps taken for the provision of medical facilities to the patients in hospitals and protection against measles.
