On the directive of Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi, a well-co-ordinated and active public complaints management system is being formulated for redressal of grievances of the people at government hospitals throughout the province.
The patients visiting teaching hospitals and their attendants would be able to send their complaints regarding provision of medical facilities, availability of medicines and general behaviour of doctors and paramedical staff through SMS and internet to the higher authorities. This was informed by Secretary Health Punjab Arif Nadeem while presiding over a meeting to establish redressal of complaints system at teaching hospitals here on Friday.
During the meeting Farasat Iqbal, Project Director of Punjab Health Sector Reforms Programme, Additional Secretary Health (Technical), Dr Anwar Janjua, Dr Amjad Shahzad, Director Operation of Health Sector Reforms Programme, Waqar Qureshi, Director General Punjab Information Technology Board and other concerned officers were present.
The officers of PITB briefed the meeting about already existing system of redressal of public complaints at district and tehsil headquarters hospitals. The Secretary Health directed further augmenting the existing system and lessening its complications. He also directed the Information Technology Board to chalk out a model on modern lines about Public Complaints Management System at teaching hospitals.
