Approval of the nomination papers of former Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah was withheld by the Election Commission of Pakistan over objections of corruption. The PPP leader has filed his papers to contest election form PS-29 of the Sindh Assembly. Sources said local Retuning Officer raised objection that corruption of millions of rupees was carried out in Sindh during Shah's government in Sindh.
The Returning Officer has convened the former chief minister on Saturday to clarify his position. Approval of nomination papers filed by Pakistan Peoples Party's female candidate Sassui Palijo has been withheld by the Returning Officer on Friday. Palijo has filed her papers to contest election from PS-85 and PS-85 constituencies of Thatta. Sources said the Election Commission withheld her nomination papers over the objection that she is allegedly involved in misappropriation of some development funds.
