Consul General of Iran in Peshawar, Hassan Darvashvand has said that the Pakistan-Iran Gas pipeline project would meet energy and gas needs of the country, which will be completed at any cost by end of 2014. He was speaking at a seminar titled "Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline Project Agreement - New Era of Relationship" organised by the Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar (UoP) here on Wednesday.
Dr A.Z Halili, Chairman Department of Political Science, faculty members, and a large number of students attended the seminar. The Iranian Consul General said the project would not only usher a new era of relationship between two brotherly Islamic countries, but also supply around 110 million cubic feet gas per day to Pakistan, particularly overcome with the growing energy and gas crisis in the country.
Darvashvand informed that the Pipeline originating from Faras province of Iran is spreading over an area of 1100 kilometres within Iran. He added that the work on the project from Iran-side remained a mere one hundred kilometres. The Iranian diplomat said about 780 Kilometres-long gas pipeline would be laid in the Pakistan under the project. The feasibility has so far initiated a month ago in this regard, he added.
